What type of dog was marmaduke in?

I have a few photos of a female marmaduke that we have that's about 9 months old. I'm not quite sure what type of dog she is (other than she is a she), but my husband and I have called her a female marmaduke, but is this name wrong? Or is she a "marmy" type dog?

She is one of our foster dogs and we think we know the answers but wanted to make sure first.

My guess would be a poodle with all white.

And yes it is a bit "Marmy", but cute as all get-out. We had her on a strict diet when she was younger because she was way too big.

Re: What type of dog was marmaduke in?

she's a beautiful dog. it seems a bit strange for a female marmaduke to have a boy dog though. i think she was a mix. i think the name just doesn't have much of a meaning to it.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the original Marmaduke was an English Springer Spaniel who was bred to the wrong female. If it was a mixed breed he could have ended up a male Marmaduke. And she has all white!

I'm not sure that was the case, but it's the theory I've heard from others. I would like to see some photos of the actual dog that you're talking about.

We don't know how big, but I've had a couple of poodles that were quite a bit bigger and they weren't the only big dogs we've had. We're really good about feeding a dog the right amount to suit their size and she was fed well for the amount of time she was with us. I believe the name of the breed has a lot of meaning, but I don't know why she would be female or the color. I just looked up Marmaduke on the internet. It turns out there were a couple of different breeds with that name.

She's an English Springer Spaniel who is a mix. The breeder sd they always breed the white part of the mix, but you can breed a white or a black, or any combination of two colors.

The breeder thought her white coat and size made her a Marmaduke, but she's also got some of a border collie in her. She's very well-socialized and used to being in a foster home with a lot of people and cats and a bunch of dogs.

She has a little white tip on her tl, but I can't tell how far.

The breeder told me she was just the same age as the other dog we fostered, so he thinks that's when she was adopted.

Re: What type of dog was marmaduke in?

Actually, I have a bit of a mixed dog history as well. I had a Poodle-Schnauzer mix who was a terror. When I took in a couple of other mixed breeds that needed to go into foster homes, I noticed that she had been left alone a bit and had been able to gn weight from all the food, and I thought I'd give it another shot. She actually did not become as much of a terror as she had been as she grew older, but she did have more trouble than the others. She ended up having to go into another foster home.
